Cotopaxi National Park Flora and Wildlife
A huge plantation of pines covers approximately 1750 hectares of the park. There are some native flora species like: chuquiraguas, puma maquis, romerillo, mortiño and capulí. Some native fauna species found in the park are: curiquingues, deers, rabbits, paramo wolfs and the Andean condor, that you can see it rarely. These animals may appear any moment.
How to get there?
There are two access routes to the park from the south of Quito:
By bus: From the buses terminal, Mariscal Sucre, take the bus of Cooperativa Mejía, that go to Machachi. Approximately time: 1 hour. From there you can rent a pick-up to the park.
By car: Take Panamericana Sur till Machachi. Starting in Machachi's Central Park there are 20km in the way to the Pedregal. Is a very beautiful route, you use secondary roads in good conditions and with clear signs.
By bus: Take a bus that goes to Latacunga, Ambato and arrive to Lasso. From there you can rent a car, a pick up, or take a taxi to the Park.
By car: This option parts from Quito too, but you do not enter to Machachi, you continue 30 minutes more to the south. Before arriving Lasso you will find a sign in your left hand that indicates the enter to the park.

Camping area: Ecuadorians $2.oo / foreigners $3.oo
Sleep in the shelter: Ecuadorians $7.84 / foreigners $16.8 per night
